We called these Fairy stars because the multi coloured silver lined seed beads remind us of glittering Christmas fairy lights. Follow our free step by step instructions and learn how to make yourself a beaded star, add to a jump ring and chain for a pendant, or make two stars for a pair of dangly earrings! Go for bright colours like we did, or choose from our collection of size 11/0 seed beads, and design your own colour way. This is a great project for a beginner to bead weaving, enjoy our free bead project!

Instructions
N.B. We used a different coloured beading thread so it's shows more in our photos, when you're making, it's best to use a gold coloured thread
1. Cut 1m of stretched beading thread, thread your needle. Tie an overhand knot on your star (photo 1a) leaving a 20cm thread. Tie another overhand knot , slide the knot so it sits snugly against the loop at the top of the star (photo 1b)

2. Thread 2 beads, pass your needle through your star, and up pass through the second seed bead you threaded making sure they sit snugly up against your end knot (Photo 2a &2b)

3. Pick up 1 bead, pass your needle through your star and pass back up the through same bead, position your bead snugly against the last bead (photo 3)

4. Continue step 3 all the way around your star, until you reach the top loop of the star ( photo 4 )

5. Repeat step 3 three times in the loop of the star ( photo 5 )

6. Pass down through the first seed bead you added in step 2, pass your needle through your star, and pass back up through same bead ( photo 6 )

7. Pick up 2 beads, pass under the second bridge of thread along ( Photo 7a ) pass back up through the second bead you picked up in this step ( photo 7b )

8. Pick up 1 bead, pass under the next bridge of thread along, and pass back up through the same bead.
9. Repeat step 8 all the way around your star, when you get to the points of the star ( photo 8a ) repeat step 8 twice in the same bridge of thread ( photo 8b )

10. Stop when you reach the bead next to the bead at the top of the loop of the star. There is bridge of thread either side of this top bead. Repeat step 8 twice, once for each bridge of thread ( photo 9a & 9b )

11. Pass back down through the first bead you picked up in step 7 ( photo 10 ), weave back through the thread paths at the top loop of the star to strengthen, do not pull too tight, otherwise your beadwork will not sit flat.

12. Weave in to secure your thread and trim, weave in to secure your tail and trim ( photo 11 )

13. Open up a jump ring, pass it through the top loop of the star, add a chain - if you're making a necklace, or an earring findings - if you're making earrings.

If you're making a pair of earrings, repeat all the steps again!
